At the bottom of the brooch there is a loop for the fixing of a chain most likely for adornment and decorative purposes.

Roman Bronze Military Type Cloak Brooch circa 1st- 2nd Century AD. This brooch is of the "Kraftiq Profiliert" type of the 1st or early 2nd century AD. It was known to be popular with the Roman military. The brooch has a nice green patina and shows good markings to the head, bow, and foot. The foot is onion shaped. Pin intact and in free movement. The head is slightly misshapen, nevertheless an attractive military brooch.
